I think that this album is really good but I think that the the four singles really were some of the best songs on the album. The album has 13 songs but given the four singles there are only 9 songs unheard until the album.
The next two singles are heavy on keyboard/piano which also shows what the album will sound like. The first two singles for the album, are acoustic with keyboards and a drum machine, and they work great to get a feel about what the album will sound and feel like. Overall the album has an acoustic sound though. Mac decided to to take an acoustic approach to this album, but there is still some electric guitar on songs.
“This Old Dog” may not have Mac DeMarco’s twangy guitar sound, but it sure is a fun album to listen to. The record was released via Captured Tracks. The album was initially recorded in New York but after a move to Los Angeles Mac decided to work on the album a little more. On May 5th singer/songwriter, Mac DeMarco released his third full album, “This Old Dog.” He recorded the album in New York and in Los Angeles in 2016.
